If you’re looking for a quiet, unassuming place that is rich in history to purchase acreage, Baker City, Oregon is a place for you will want to look into first. This area not only has the look and feel of a small town, it is a small town. Established in 1874 on the Oregon Trail as a support town for the gold rush in neighboring towns, Baker City filled with people and businesses looking to relax after a long day of searching for their fortune in gold, and was the largest populated city in Oregon at the time. More than 130 years later, Baker City has retained its small town values by still having under 10,000 in population.

Oregon’s governor, Ted Kulongoski, has tapped Baker City and Baker County as the model of how committed people can enforce their own vision statement for their community and be successful. The Baker City people have a pride and friendliness about them that keeps this area being a most desirable place in Oregon to live and/or work.
