Our first winter storm

December 1st, 2007 Posted in La Grande Real Estate | No Comments »

Well its here.  We have our first winter storm that came in to Eastern Oregon in the last few days.  La Grande received about 7 inches of snow.  More snow is expect this weekend and we do have high-wind warnings.  The winter conditions sometimes affect the Real Estate market, but not always.  Buyers still will want to see the homes that are good buys for them.  La Grande is getting a good inventory of homes and Sellers are more willing to negotiate with buyers to sell their homes.

Office is conveniently located in in the heart of Downtown La Grande, Oregon.  John J Howard & Associates Real Estate has 7 agents located at the office.  We offer several new marketing strategies for our Sellers that include a flat screen that rotates our listings for the public, our for sale signs that we use are made out of reflective material that glows back to the on coming car in the late afternoon or evenings.   This works great for this time year.  The Realtors have lots of room within each cubical and there is a since of privacy for our clients.  If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and say hello.

Ducks Unlimited Banquet

September 28th, 2007 Posted in La Grande Real Estate | No Comments »

This past Saturday the annual Ducks Unlimited Banquet was held at the National Guard Armory here in La Grande. Ducks Unlimited is an organization whose mission is to conserve,  restore, and manage wetlands and associated habitats for North America’s waterfowl.

A committee of 18 local volunteers worked together to put on this yearly event. Their efforts resulted in net proceeds of $27,000.  There were 235 people in attendance and over $25,000 in cash and merchandise was donated by the local community.  It is important to note that 87% of this profit goes directly to waterfowl and wetland conservation.  This committee is part of a larger, statewide organization in Oregon. Last year, Ducks Unlimited volunteers in Oregon raised over $500,000.
