Rare Meteorite seen over Eastern Oregon
February 22nd, 2008 Posted in La Grande Real EstateIt happened on February 20th 2008 on Monday morning about 5:30am when a meteorite stream over to Eastern Oregon and then exploded. People awoken to a sonic boom and an extremely bright flash of light from the explosion. The meteorite was seen from Boise Idaho, Spokane, The Tri-Cities and as far away as Portland. Some of the web cams on the tall buildings in Portland captured the meteorite. The meteorite is speculated to have exploed just North of Elgin Oregon. It is extremely rare to witness a meteorite in clear skies and early in the morning.
