May 21st, 2007 Posted in La Grande Real Estate

The announcement of adding out-patient clink to La Grande was made in The Observer newspaper on Tuesday, May 15th, 2007.  The planning for the expansion of an out-patient from the VA hospital in Walla Walla has been on going during the past year.  The clinic will provide care not just primary care, but also mental health as well as group clinics for post-traumatic stress disorder, diabetes and hypertension.  La Grande was chosen to be the best location based on a study of 5 counties in Eastern Oregon.

The department estimates that upon activation, the clinic will serve about 1,700 enrolled veterans.  At full capacity it will serve 2,200 veterans.

Senator Wyden played a key role in having the VA clinic established in Eastern Oregon.
