Milton Freewater Real Estate | Milton Freewater Oregon Homes For Sale

Milton-Freewater is located at the Westerly section of the Blue Mountain Range and is about 8 miles South of Walla Walla. The city is surrounded by fruit trees and miles of orchards, wheat fields and vineyards. Vineyards have been an expanding commodity throughout Milton-Freewater and Walla Walla.

Settlers first were attracted to the fertile valley. This area has mild winters with long spring and summers. The area offers much sunlight for growing crops. Originally, there were two small cities: Milton and Freewater. In 1950, the two small towns merged and renamed themselves Miton-Freewater.

Milton-Freewater has 53 acres of park grounds that includes an 18 hole golf course, aquatic center, tennis courts, racquetball courts and a 4 1/2 acre sports complex containing baseball, softball and soccer fields. The aquatic center is open 7 days a week beginning the first week in June through the last week in August.

If you are looking for outdoor activities, you can find excellent steelhead fishing, deer, elk,and upland game bird hunting, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobile trails, hiking, camping and picnicking. All are within short distances from Milton-Freewater.

A visit to the local Frazier Farmstead, maintained by the Milton-Freewater Historical Society, is a treat for history buffs. Frazier Farmstead Museum is open April – December, Thursday through Sunday. Settled by community founder W.S. Frazier in 1868, the six acre site is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and includes a “turn of the century” home with many original furnishings, several farm buildings, along with flower, herb and rose gardens. Umatilla County’s oldest structure, the McCoy Cabin, was built in 1856 and has been relocated to the Farmstead grounds for preservation.
