Stanfield Real Estate | Stanfield Oregon Homes For Sale

Stanfield is located is located along Highway 395 and I-84 Freeway. The town of Stanfield was originally named foster. The name Stanfield came after Senator Robert N Stanfield purchased property for the headquarters of his extensive sheep and wool enterprises. The railroad provided excellent transportation for shipping sheep and storing supplies for the area. Stanfield was incorporated in 1910 and was promoted for settlement for its excellent soils for growing crops.

The winter is mild and the summer provides lots of sunlight for growing crops. The Oregon Trail ran through Stanfield which helped the development of the area. In 1916, Stanfield built a water tower, which continues to be a local land mark. The Furnish Irrigation Ditch was built by W.J. Furnish to provide an amble amount of water for irrigating crops in the area. The surrounding farmers produce quality melons, potatoes, alfalfa, mint, wheat and cattle. This area receives about 9” inches of rain per year.
