Union Oregon Real Estate

Union Oregon grew up as an important crossroads for freight coming from the Columbia

River and as the point for sending ore from the mountain mines out to the rest of the world. As a result, Union's downtown has a distinctly Victorian feel. Small wonder Union's downtown has been designated a National Historic District and that many of the businesses there reflect that history. It became a city in 1962 and was named Union in response to the resident's feelings about the Civil War.

Situated on the banks of Catherine Creek and at the entrance to northeast Oregon's Grande Ronde Valley (the largest circular mountain valley in North America ), Union is the gateway to both the Eagle Cap Wilderness and the Catherine Creek State Park . Union offers plenty of room to grow and some of the best recreational opportunities in North East Oregon. Union's Outdoor recreational opportunities include hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, union oregon real estatesnowmobiling, hiking, camping, backpacking, rodeos, pari-mutuel horse racing, to name a few.

The surrounding area has both lush farmlands and large ranches, lending to the feel of wide open spaces nestled and protected by mountains. The weather is mild, with warm summers and cool winters with snow in the highlands.

The schools in Union have an excellent reputation with an outstanding student to teacher ration. Eastern Oregon University and a variety of nearby community colleges provide ease of access to higher education and add a positive cultural influence to the city.

Known as a 19th Century Town with 21st Century awareness, Union offers a singular quality of life. The business environment is encouraging and progressive. While in the downtown area, Union works to keep its 19th Century roots, the city encourages growth.
